Flu Vaccination of 50-64 year olds

Following the government’s announcement to extend the eligibility for an NHS flu vaccination to all 50-64 year olds, NHS England are yet to commission the flu vaccination programme for this cohort in general practice. Once they do, we will be permitted to order the appropriate vaccine for this age cohort and can then arrange flu clinics and invite appropriate patients to have their vaccination. We understand there have been mixed messages in the media, alongside some flu vaccine invitation letters being sent out incorrectly by NHSE centrally, but until we are given the go-ahead by NHS England, I’m afraid we cannot commence vaccination of the new 50-64 year old age group. We will be in touch as soon as we can, and thank you for your patience and understanding in the mean time.
