Removal of Automatic Repeat Prescriptions

Patients currently using our Automatic Repeat Prescription Service will receive the following information either by letter or via a text with a link to this page – please read

As you may be aware, we are now using the electronic prescribing service and therefore your prescriptions can be sent electronically to any pharmacy- all you have to do is nominate a pharmacy; otherwise your prescription will be available for any pharmacy to retrieve once you provide them with either the prescription barcode or your name, date of birth and NHS number.
Subsequently, we are no longer able to use the automated repeat system as it is not compatible with electronic prescribing. This means that your prescription will no longer be issued out automatically each month. Going forward, your prescription will be on ‘repeat dispensing’ and therefore you will need to request your next prescription. Upon request, your nominated pharmacy will receive a batch of monthly prescriptions which generally last 3-6 months. You can request your next batch either via our website, online services, such as the NHS app or Patient Access, by handing your request into the surgery or by asking your chemist to request on your behalf. Please note that it takes 3-4 working days to process prescription requests so please ensure you order your prescription in good time.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience that this may cause you, but we strongly believe that this will be a much safer and effective way to process prescription requests. If you have any concerns or queries, please do not hesitate to contact the surgery.
Kind regards,
The Boathouse Surgery
