Referrals

Tracking a referral

If your doctor has referred you to a specialist for further care, we will refer you to whichever local hospital has the shortest waiting list, unless a specific hospital or consultant has been requested.

In most cases, the hospital will then be in touch with you to book an appointment – the time frame for this can vary depending on the department and their current wait times. We will email you with your referral details and all the information you will need to track it. If we do not have an email address for you, we will contact you to collect the letter from reception once it’s ready.

In some cases you may need to book the appointment yourself, this will be clearly stated on the referral letter that we email to you, or ask you to collect.

To track an existing referral:

If we have sent your referral, please do not contact us to chase it, please get intouch with the department you have been referred to directly.

Urgent referrals

If you have been referred for suspected cancer and have not received the letter with the referral details from us within 2 working days, please contact us using our track a referral form. You will then hear directly from the hospital with an appointment, if you do not hear from them within 2 weeks, please contact using the details on the referral letter we have sent you.
